We have rattlesnakes that come around this time of year. They can appear on your front doorstep or next to the shed… or out on the hiking trails. One of our local trails is Rattlesnake Canyon, and I was inspired to name this soap after that trail since it has a bit of a snakelike appearance. Rattlesnake Canyon Soap v2 is actually made with one of our local beers and one of my favorites… Figueroa Mountain Brewing’s Danish Red. Don’t worry, it doesn’t smell like beer after going through the saponification process. Instead, it’s scented with a combination of basil, Lemon Sicily 5 fold, lemon eucalyptus and cedarwood essential oils.
A conditioning soap, it’s made with cocoa butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and almond butter. The soap takes on the coloration from the beer and the the darker part is colored by activated charcoal.
These rich and wonderful bars weigh between 4.5 and 5 oz.
One thing you should know about these handcrafted soaps from Love from Santa Barbara is that you should never leave them sitting in water. This will dissolve all those precious ingredients in no time. By the same token, the soap shouldn’t be sitting in the shower stream where it’s being hit by water. Same deal. Probably best to put it them on a wire rack so the air can circulate around it.
